Ye Olde Reine Deer Inn
Step back into 1570 at Ye Olde Reine Deer Inn, Banbury’s oldest pub, where you can enjoy authentic Hook Norton ales in the same historic Globe Room once used by Oliver Cromwell as his Civil War headquarters.

Steeped in over 450 years of local folklore, Ye Olde Reine Deer Inn is more than just Banbury’s oldest pub: it is a living piece of English history. Established in 1570, this Grade II listed landmark welcomes you with its original heavy wooden doors, soaring beamed ceilings, and the warmth of roaring open fires.
The heart of our heritage lies in the magnificent Globe Room, a 17th-century architectural masterpiece famously used by Oliver Cromwell as his headquarters during the English Civil War. It was within these oak-panelled walls that the Siege of Banbury and the Battle of Edgehill were planned, and where Royalist trials were later held.
As the flagship pub for the renowned Hook Norton Brewery, we take pride in serving the freshest selection of real ales, including the classic Hooky Gold, alongside a menu of hearty, homemade British classics. Whether you're visiting for our popular Sunday roast, our signature "Reine Deer Rooster" burger, or simply to soak up the atmosphere in our historic courtyard, you’ll find a quintessentially British experience that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
