About Artglass Designs
Artglass Designs is a stained glass and fused glass studio on Banbury Road in Byfield, run by Tony Judson, who has been established for over 25 years. Tony originally trained as a designer draughtsman before moving into commercial interior design, and eventually turned his passion for working with his hands into a full time glass craft business. The studio creates both traditional and contemporary stained glass pieces, using the copper foil method popularised by L C Tiffany for internal work and the more traditional leaded technique for external commissions such as those found in churches. Tony also develops fused glass pieces using kiln formed techniques, incorporating processes such as fusing, slumping and casting, and some of these are included in his designs to make them truly unique. As well as producing commissioned work from initial enquiry through to installation, Artglass Designs offers flexible tuition courses where you can learn to make a stained glass panel or a fused glass piece. Stained glass tuition costs £15 an hour and fused glass tuition costs £20 an hour, with all materials and tools supplied. Classes run for 2 to 4 hours with a maximum of 2 people at a time, and gift vouchers are available.
